Nuts & Bolts Pub Mix
- Description
Pub Mix is a uniquely American Snack with a uniquely British name. We call our Bite Society pub mix Nuts & Bolts.
The rise in popularity for this snack is credited to the wife of a Ralston Purina executive (she was known only as wife, because sexism) who made a holiday snack mix with the classic Chex cereal. This is said to have happened in December 1955 but the math isn't mathing on that. The first chex mix style snack recipe appeared on the back of cereal boxes in 1952. Not sure if Mr. Don Draper gets the credit for this story, but it does sound a bit more fun than: Group of ad guys in smoked-filled room come up with alternative uses for cereal. Later, those same ad guys attribute the recipe to an unnamed wife. Same ad guys go for drinks and are served Pub Mix.
Our snack was created in our catering kitchen in South Lake Union, served to thousands and found a home in our green tattoo themed tin. Enjoy one of our favorite bar snacks with a pint and save the tin for your workshop.
